Since March of 2004 we, Bob and Wendy, have been growing mushrooms organically and providing kits for the Missouri Ozarks. We started shipping kits in 2010. Each of the Button and Crimini kits are 12" by 12" by 12" and weigh between 12 to 14 lbs each. The oyster log weighs approximately 8 lbs and takes up the same growing space as the button and crimini kits do. Each kit has the potential to produce up to 4 lbs of mushrooms each during the 6-8 week growing cycle. Once the mushrooms emerge they double in size every 24 hours! So much fun to watch for children as well as adults. Makes a Terrific Science project. Great for the Home School as well as in the Science Classroom (ANY age group!). These beginners kits come with detailed instructions that not only explain What to do... buy Why you are doing it. There is a glossary of mushroom terms to enhance your experience and a log sheet to help you keep track of what is going on. We have been making kits for over 15 years and provide detailed instructions to make it fun and easy for you to Grow Mushrooms! We encourage you to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have along the way via Email mentioned on your instruction sheets or Amazon's message board. Feel free to send photos and ask questions. We love to interact with our 'growers'. We check for and respond to messages throughout the day. The growing medium you receive is pulled directly from our farms growing beds. We keep logs to know which crop your kit came from and notes on what is going on with a particular crop so we may better assist you. Kits are a living organism and need to be tended to upon arrival.
