The Corts Hermanos company was founded in 1929 in Santo Domingo by Pedro Corts Forteza, who distinguished himself with his leadership by promoting tradition, quality, discipline, and unwavering commitment to his clients. These qualities continue to be prevalent in the company, driving us towards excellence and continuous improvement and allowing us to experience sustained growth over time. Don Pedro Corts Forteza saw new horizons and great opportunities in Puerto Rico in 1931, whereupon he immediately began exporting chocolate. However, it was not until 1937 that Don Pedro expanded his operations to Puerto Rico by installing a second processing plant there. Today, Chocolate Cortes is the most popular in Puerto Rico. In 2014, Forteza Caribbean Chocolate was introduced with the intention of promoting and developing the cocoa and fine chocolate industries in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Since then, we have helped develop the cacao growing industry on both islands, particularly in Puerto Rico, where, in large part due to the training and tree distribution efforts of Forteza and Corts Hermanos, the number of cacao farmers and production volumes of this agricultural product are in a state of continuous growth. Today, we continue to make the best chocolate possible, as part of an industry of local chocolatiers who strive every day to make their products the most sought-after by consumers.
